    Is Pete Fountain's Half-fast Walking Club still in existence? They could get things started. Or maybe one (or several) Mardi Gras Indian tribes, like the Wild Tchopitoulas.

  3. My husband ordered a bunch of Mardi Gras beads for our Super Bowl party and they arrived today. I'll be making jambalaya and bread pudding here at what my husband is now calling NOLA North. Who dat!

    Thanks for stopping by and for your comments. We have bags of beads scattered around the house like all good New Orleanians (even displaced ones). We recently had jambalaya and we had shrimp and kingcake for the last game so I'm waffling about the Superbowl. After all, it's the SUPERBOWL. I *should* make my very favorite dish, crawfish bisque, despite having to use frozen tails and how much work that dish is. Maybe I'll make it anyway.

    And we're definitely gonna have some Absinthe cuz it don't get more Noo Alwins than that!

    It's gonna be an exciting weekend!

  5. We have a respectable number of beads considering we don't live in New Orleans but I'm not prepared to give those away quite yet. That's why my husband ordered some for our guests.

    Crawfish bisque sounds wonderful. I also adore corn crab bisque. I have attended the New Orleans School of Cooking twice and use the recipe I got there. Yum! I'd have to pass on the absinthe, however. To me it tastes like licorice-flavored parts cleaner. ;)
