Roadtrip Day 286
Woke happy and relaxed in our very lovely AirB&B place, got ready, and took a short, local bus ride to Journal Square where we could catch the PATH right to Herald Square, NYNY. Pretty efficient.
So here we are in the throbbing metropolis, gawking like tourists. Wandered a bit and grabbed a snack at “le pain quotidien” before visiting the lovely library. Such wonderful architectural details.
After enjoying the berry, we walked up Broadway for a while, then we hit the Northish loop of Central Park. Passed The Dakota which is completely encased in scaffolding. Someone said it’s been that way for a year already. Must be a BIG repair job. Opposite The Dakota in Central Park is Strawberry Fields. Very peaceful there, except for a guy who was sitting right under the NO MUSIC sign playing Beatles’ songs. Badly. I almost said something to him but decided to just let it be. Imagine.
Stopped at the Museum of Natural History and wanted to tour but we were both too footsore. Some other time. Grabbed the subway to Greenwich Village and Washington Square Park where there’d been a 30K-person rally for Sanders recently. Quieter today. Found a little restaurant for some al fresco eating and resting.
After that it was pretty much time to retrace our steps back to the subway to the PATH to the local bus to our homey, restful AirB&B.
A little quiet, a little tv, a lotta rest. Tomorrow is another city day.
